The Art of Bargain Shopping

Bargains are every girl’s best friend. But they’re not always so easy to come by. Bar again shopping is one of my absolute favorite hobbies. My best friend and I even have a little competition every time we shop together to see who can get the best bargain of the day.

Her and I having a frappé after a long day of shopping. That leather jacket she’s wearing, she scored thrifted for $12! She definitely beat me that day!

There are many factors to take in to consideration while bargain shopping. Here are a few I’ve come up with from experience.
What Season Is It?
At the end of every season there are always huge clearance sales so that stores can rid themselves of last season’s trends. TIP: I have found the transition from winter to spring (RIGHT NOW!) to be the best bargain shopping season, because outerwear, boots and sweaters, items that are generally more pricey than other types of clothing, are marked off significantly.

(Excuse the mirror pic. Lol. I’m lacking a decent photographer at the moment) I scored this boho-beachy style BillaBong sweatshirt at PacSun just the other day for $10 with their big 70% off sale! HOLLA! (Yes, I just said holla. Don’t judge.)
Know Your Stores
A lot of how much you spend on an item depends on what stores you shop at and how much you’re willing to spend. Obviously if you’re shopping at Anthropology, you’re probably not going to find anything on sale for $10. But you could find some good deals compared to the original price. Personally, I have a poor college-kid budget, so I like to find things AS CHEAP AS POSSIBLE. So I’ve found that places like Forever21 are my kinda place; where I can easily get a top on sale for $5. When shopping like this, quality is also something to consider.
Know Your Style
Often times I have found myself in the rush of a huge sale, drawn in by the ridiculously cheap prices, and end up just throwing everything on the counter. I may be getting a good deal, buuuuut know I have a bunch of crap I won’t wear! Before you go in to a sale, know what you like and have an idea of what types of things you would actually wear. I know it’s hard, but in the middle of the rush of the sale, try to slow down and really examine the item and think ‘Would I actually wear this?’

I found these BullHead Denim coated skinnies on sale also at PacSun for $10!

Bargain shopping season is in and bargain hunting is ON! Happy hunting!

Edgy Grunge

20140131-235828.jpg
Look Of The Day! Today’s look featured a grunge look with a twist of edge. My sweater, from Forever21, would probably be considered more grunge, based on the color palette and oversized fit. The necklace correlates well with the color of my sweater, and also with the grunge theme, making it a must. I scored these faux leather knee patch leggings at Charlotte Russe for $12 a couple months ago, and added them to the ensemble to give it some edge, along with the combat boots. Today’s look was super comfy and easy, and I got tons of compliments on it! Try finding an oversized top with tons of character and simply adding leggings and boots, to make this look your own! And you can rock this comfy, stylish look too!

20140130-223957.jpg
Hey everyone! This is the first of many Celebrity Style Icons, which will be a post of inspirational ensembles from the most stylish celebrities, and the very first one is featuring the stunning Vanessa Hudgens! This girl can not only act and sing, but she can pull off a mean street style! The girl is talented! She is one of my major inspirations, and one of the reasons I’m hooked on street style. She has a knack for taking oversized baggy things and making them look trendy and chic as you can see in the photos. Take a look at these six looks of hers and take notes! I sure am! Happy street styling!

Winter Chic

Look of the Day time! Today, I chose an ensemble that would be perfect for those chilly, late fall days, but I just had to wear this today because I just scored this scarf yesterday! (Only seven bucks! Holla!) Even though the color scheme is a bit autumn oriented, this outfit is perfect to wear on freeeeezing days like today. Like literally freezing. (The HIGH here in Kansas for today was only 19! Brrrrr!). If you’re really aiming for the cozy look, I suggest finding a scarf that is really thick and that you can wrap around your neck about three times. This makes it look fuller around your neck and more cozy. The scarf I’m wearing is an infinity scarf and I was able to wrap it around three times. And if your scarf isn’t infinity, never fear! There is a solution! just take the ends of the scarf and tie them together, making a loop. BOOM. Infinity scarf! Tall leather boots also play a huge role in the cozy chic look. They are super warm and super chic. I happened to score these babies for twenty bucks at Charlotte Russe a few weeks ago! Holla again! 🙂 But if you are thinking to buy a pair, NOW IS THE TIME! since spring is right around the corner, stores are putting all their winter boots on sale. (Even though its still cold as heck outside!) The last major component to this look is the ivory sweater. I actually bought this at JC Penney a few years ago for about twenty bucks. And I cannot stop wearing it! It goes great with just about any winter piece and is super comfy and cozy. When I bought mine, I made sure I bought a large on purpose, though I’m normally an extra small. This makes the sweater look even comfier and cozier, and not to mention cuter! (In my opinion) But whether you buy it big, or just normal, the ivory sweater is a need this winter season!
And just like that, with three major pieces, each twenty dollars or less, you can create a super chic winter outfit! And don’t forget to play around with colors and palettes to create your own unique look! What’s your opinion on this ensemble? How would you change it? Feedback is welcomed! Did you create your own version of the winter chic outfit? If so, leave a comment with a link to the picture! I would love to check it out and give feedback! Happy styling!

Edgy Indie

Guess what!? It’s time for today’s Look Of The Day! Today, I went with an indie themed ensemble with a bit of an edge. the graphic lion tank includes lots of earthy tones, which paired nicely with my indie fringe necklace. That black cardigan, ladies and gents, is a LIFESAVER! it literally goes with everything. You’ve seen it before, in my cozy street style look, and now its reppin’ indie! And let me tell you, that’s not the last you will see of it! If you have not yet invested in a black cardigan of some sort, I would highly recommend it! (That goes for the black combat boots, too! Highly versatile!) This ensemble is perfect for a relaxed Saturday, running errands around town and doing a little shopping! To switch things up a bit, you could wear a denim/chambray shirt instead of the cardigan and switch out the black boots for brown, to give it an even more earthy feel! (I just prefer black, to give it a little edge, but you do what you feel expresses yourself the most!) So…what do you think? Do you like the outfit? Would you change it in any way? Leave your comments below! I want to know what you all think!

Comfy Cozy Street Style

Hey ladies! So this is the very first Look Of The Day! I sported this cozy ensemble today attending classes. But it would be perfect for a day of shopping or lunch with your bestie! Cropped graphic tanks and extra long cardigans are always a yes. The defined difference in the lengths add a special flare. To add just a little color I added a cozy burgundy knitted scarf. Knitted scarves are always perfect in cold weather like this! Next, I added my favorite black combat boots to emphasize the street style look of the outfit. Hope this can inspire your next cozy street style look! And don’t forget to check back tomorrow for tomorrow’s Look Of The Day!
